Do you take custody of client assets or do you use a third-party custodian?
We do NOT take custody of client assets. Our primary custodian is Folio Institutional, a state-of-the-art clearing firm in McLean, Virginia, . Every month Folio sends your monthly statement to you directly. Every trade confirmation comes to you directly. In addition, Folio Institutional does not engage in derivatives trading or underwriting activities.
Are all your advisers fiduciaries?
Yes, in all of our client relationships we act in the best interest of our clients. We disclose potential conflicts of interest in writing. We do not earn commissions on any financial products.
How much does a first meeting cost?
Our first 30-minute meeting is free. The purpose of this meeting is for you to see who we are, what we offer, and to see if we can establish a working relationship.
Aren’t all financial planners and brokers the same?
Definitely not! Most stockbrokers are paid only when you buy or sell stocks, bonds, mutual funds, or annuities. A fee-only financial planner is paid an hourly rate, a percentage of investments managed, or an agreed-upon retainer. Many people call themselves “financial planners,” but few have earned rigorous credentials such as the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification.
I already have an agent. Isn’t this good enough?
An agent sells you financial products, such as insurance and annuities and earns a commission on that sale. We do not sell any financial products; rather, we offer holistic financial advice to improve your financial life.
Do you offer screened investments options?
Yes we can design any type of portfolio. We work with you to invest according to your risk/reward tolerance and your values so that together we can maximize your income.
